washi tape obsessed

i am currently obsessing over Washi Tape and the all the things you can do with it. Flash bright colors and patterns at me and im sold.
I just ordered a few rolls off Etsy and cant wait for them to get here.

Check out the wall in this room.  so awesome.

and this wall...

wine glass labels...genius

Just look at how cool you can make your iphone cord look...plain cords are so lame.

or your iphone case...

I will be doing something similar to this with tape I ordered in the girls room...

this lampshade is super cute...

washi tape is also awesome for gift wrap, stationary, scrap booking...anything really. The hardest part if figuring out what patterns and colors to buy.  and not go broke buying every rooll you see...

new rug n junk...

Between the dog vomit and spilled milk, the rugs in my living room get replaced regularly...

These 3 make it so that i can not have nice things...

its hard to find nice rugs for cheap that are cute.

so when i came across this Allen & Roth rug at Lowes for $42 i scooped up a couple. (its nice to have a backup)

It fits more than perfectly in our living room...

Now i just need to find a new coffee table. Im hittin up IKEA next weekend so hopefully i can find something there...

maybe something like this?

or this...

i know they basically look the same.  but you get the gist of what im looking for...

Better After...

Our fireplace makeover was featured on Better After Blog last night...you can check it out here...

The fireplace is done! Mr H finished it up this past weekend....

There are a few spots that need to be touched up and we are still trying to hunt down the exact casing we want for the window and door, but all in all, its done!

Here is where we started many moons ago...

and now...

quite a difference...

Ill be back with some close ups and details later, but for now my preggnant a$$ is sitting on my new couch, admiring the new view.  My husband is the best!!

and of course i am still toying around with painting the brick on the fireplace...I swear i am never satisfied...

happy birthday to me...

I bought myself a new couch for my birthday...

I have been wanting a new sofa for quite some time. the old one was gross and deformed, not to mention has taken a beating from 2 dogs, 2 adults, and a toddler who thinks its a trampoline.

its not what i was looking for at all, but i love it. The tealish/greyish/blueish color works well in the living room (im having a hard time photographing the actual color).  and its so much bigger than the older one, we can all actually fit on the couch now.  plus with the baby coming, i wanted more space and something new and clean.

i just need some new pillows, and a new rug, and a new coffee table....minor details...

its a lot bigger than the last one too, so we can all actually fit on it now, and with the new baby coming, i really wanted something new (clean) and big.

the old one is currently holed up in the play room until i decide what to do with it.

the playroom, which stores a bunch of junk my child wont play with, is getting turned into a den/extra living room/somewhat playroom.  Basically a room where Mr H will go to watch baseball football hockey or whatever,  and a room i can throw all the downstairs toys into, and oh yeah  my orange desk!

so until i get a new smaller sofa for this room. the old one will hang there...

but back to my new couch...

the color changes the feel of the whole room...that and the new fireplace/builtins...which by the way, are thiiiiiiis close to being done. pics to come shortly...

updates...

My living room still looks like a construction site/junkyard...

but its coming along...just check out that fireplace and built-in...

not finished!

not finished!
not too shabby from where we started...

it still needs work. we have some finishing touches here and there, and we still have to add molding and wood planks over the fire place. they will hide all the wires from the tv and the cable box and the wii and the playstation and the roku box. etc...

im thinking something kinda like these...
source
source
and Mr H has already done a lot of work at hiding wires...there are about 7 trap doors so we can access all the wires  without deconstructing the whole thing...

Also we still have to replace the casing around the little window and door and add some molding that matches the other windows in the house...

but so far so good i think...

Im also toying around with the idea of painting the brick area of the fireplace but Ill wait until everything is finished to make that call...

we are hoping to have it done in another weekend or 2.  we still have to get started on this project soon...and by we i mean Mr H...

yup- thats a big ol pile of hardwood acclimating in our bedroom.

i think i need another month before this baby comes...on second thought no i dont...

30 week happenings...

Final countdown to baby #2. Exactly 2 months left. I cant believe Im going to have another little girl...and infant little girl...here in 2 months.

here we are bumping at 30 weeks...

This one can.not.wait.

She is loving on my belly every day and talking to the baby and giving her chapstick and food and toys.  she is going to be an awesome big sister.

These 2 can take it or leave it Im sure...

One thing is for certain...we have A LOT of work to get done in the next 2 months.

Progress on the builtins front...

It looks a mess, but its organized chaos.  It should be done by this weekend.  which happens to be my birthday.  Mr H always knows the best presents to get me! we have to finish the shelves- add the mantle and molding to the fireplace and paint and it should be done.  Im also thinking i might paint the brick dark grey.  but i want to see the finished product first...

On top of working full time and being bombarded with my 50 million house projects, Mr H is also busy with a few other side jobs. he is currently tiling a bathroom for some friends, and he just finished building this custom fireplace form for my parents...

this is a very blurry unfinished/unpainted iphone picture...
So i cut him some slack every now and again if he seems a little tired or something...

Im currently working on this dresser for the girls room...also hoping to finish by this weekend...

that thing is seriously like a hundred years old!  Here is a peek at the color i chose to paint it...

its called Valspar Mint.  its a new spring color i found at Lowes. I have already painted it and it looks awesome.  Im just trying to figure out what kind of hardware to put on it now.

and see the nasty carpet in that pic above.  yeah that has to go too and we have to lay hardwood down ...in the next 2 months.  and oh yeah. we still have to swap rooms with LA.  and oh yeah, put together a crib and all that baby crap.   I have no fear that everything will get done though.  we thrive under pressure. Plus Mr H and I said the other day that we can just throw # 2 in a pac n play if everything isnt finished yet.

its funny because by this time in my pregnancy with LA, I had all of her nursery complete and all her clothes washed and folded and put away and all things baby put together.  things really are different with baby #2.

Speaking of the difference between baby #1 and #2.  this blog post by Jason Good had me rolling...if you have kids or not you should read his blog.  its hilarious.

So thats where we are at 30 weeks.  buried.  Hopefully I will have some after pics on Monday of something...
